Using your Revolver is probably more sensible, but again, if you get the kill, you get the kill. Again, I get "OH, YOU SHOULD HAVE SKILL! BACK/FACE-STAB! REVOLVER!" but sometimes your target turns or moves just as you're about to backstab them. If you get killed by a Spy who doesn't backstab you or, for whatever reason use his Revolver, I don't know if you deserved to live. With butter knifing, I feel like it's more insulting, sort of like getting killed by a Medic's Syringe Gun/Bonesaw in a 1v1 when they had less health than you originally. But I'm not going to practice one single class for fifty hours every day just to learn how to headshot "properly". Taking them out in one hit or three makes no difference, provided they're taken out. I make no bones about not being the greatest Sniper ever. Look, I understand that you're a good player and I'm a "scrub". e.e /endrantĪnyway, what frustrates you in Team Fortress 2?ĮDIT: Forgot one of my biggest, and most frustrating, pet peeves: People who complain about body shots and "Butter knifing". I didn't realize I was supposed to suddenly be blessed by the Nine Divines to magically IMPROVE as that class to be able to beat you. People who mock you/get upset at you for switching classes. But you can easily win matches without personally killing anyone. If there were a mode where you were supposed to kill, fine. I'm an admin on a Trade server, and it frustrates me when I see someone kill a bunch of friendly players goofing off and then justifying their slaughter with "YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO KILL! IT'S A GAME ABOUT KILLING!" Killing is a means to an end. By killing people, you give yourself an easier time. But as far as I can see, the purpose is the same as any moba: To complete the objective. You can make an argument that's the purpose. People who say the purpose of Team Fortress 2 is killing. It's one of the most frustrating things ever to see people chew me out for using a certain weapon. There tends to be a couple items with low skill floors and relatively moderate skill ceilings for players who are trying to get the hang of the game. The Insert immature nickname for weapon here." (Like Shitstop, Fag-A-Nature, etc.) Certain weapons are crutch weapons for new and pub players, because that's who Valve is catering to. People who complain at you for using a weapon because it's a "noob" weapon or say "Ugh. Yeah you could say "Go Spy anyway." but by the time you finish breaking that defending Engineer's nest or whatever, someone else has already filled your old role, potentially in an incompetent fashion. When you're in a pub and there's 3 Spies but none of them are doing anything, and you don't want to contribute to the stack and stop helping your team as the only competent Engineer or whatever. That being said, some things that frustrate me are (Brief rants incoming): That doesn't mean neither myself nor anyone else can't be frustrated by it. I feel apt to mention that I do know that people complain for no good reason, or may be ignorant of the rationalization behind certain behaviors/ideas. I'm referring more to the social side of Team Fortress 2, whether it be class selection, player smack-talk/complaining, or even player behavior. This isn't necessarily gameplay stuff, although it can be.
